Firstly, environmental conditions are a major concern. Unlike climate-controlled arcades, temporary venues often subject machines to extreme temperature fluctuations, humidity, dust, and even direct sunlight. These elements can cause PCBs to overheat, lead to condensation inside cabinets, attract debris that interferes with mechanical parts, and cause monitor screens to warp or fade. Secondly, the constant transportation and handling of these heavy, delicate machines between locations is a significant source of wear and tear. Each move risks physical damage from impacts, jostling that can loosen wiring and connections, and misalignment of sensitive components like monitors and control panels.

Furthermore, securing a clean and stable power source is notoriously difficult in temporary locations. venues often rely on generators or shared power grids, which can be prone to voltage spikes, sags, and electrical noise. This inconsistent power can easily damage power supplies, fry logic boards, and cause unexpected resets during gameplay, leading to a poor user experience. Finally, the compressed timeline of events creates immense pressure. Technicians have minimal time for extensive repairs on-site. This demands not only a deep understanding of arcade hardware and software but also the necessity to have a comprehensive inventory of critical spare parts—such as fuses, buttons, joysticks, and known-working PCB sets—readily available to perform swift swaps and get games back online with minimal downtime.

Successfully managing these challenges requires meticulous pre-event planning, a proactive maintenance mindset, and a well-stocked toolkit to ensure these classic games remain operational and entertaining for the duration of the installation.
